Sledding 101 – Warning Photo Overload!

Old Mother Nature dropped a few inches of snow on us last night so we decided to put it to good use this morning.  We were up early, as usual, and had the driveway and vehicles cleaned off by 10:30am or so.  After hitting the dump, we headed to the local elementary/middle school for some sledding.  Now, I know that some of my friends take their kids there but we’ve never gone there ourselves.   After a couple of texts and a phone call, I learned where we needed to go.  The thing was when we got there, the parking lot hadn’t been plowed and nothing had been shoveled and NO ONE had been there sledding yet.  The lack of plowing wasn’t a big deal - we took old Bertha and she plowed right through.  We weren’t sure exactly how to get up to the top but we figured it out in no time at all.  Once the paths for the sleds were broken once, they were prime for sledding and with no one else there we had the run of the place!

Joe rented a Canon 70-200 f/2.8L USM/IS from a place in Amherst and has it for a week.  We’ve had it a few days and while it’s an extremely awesome lens, he’d pretty much decided that it wasn’t one that he needed. At $1800, I was glad to hear that. :P   Seriously, he said he didn’t think we’d use it much.  But today, he had a chance to use it for what it was made for…action shots!  It takes some kick ass pics for sure!!  Hold onto your seats and your coffee…lots of pics to load up here!!

I love the sharpness of this lens!  Joe never moved from his spot at the bottom of the hill and many of these shots were taken when the kids were up at the top!

Destructo Dog

One thing we were told over and over again by lab owners before we got Starsky was that they LOVE to chew.  And if you don’t give them something to chew on, they’ll find something on their own.  So since we got Starsky 2 months ago, we’ve made sure he always has something to chew on.  His most favorite things to chew on are these lambswool toys with squeakers inside.  His first order of business is squeaking the thing until the squeaker can’t take any more.  And then it’s on to opening the sucker up so he can attempt to eat the squeaker.  Thankfully, we’re pretty careful and he’s never eaten an entire squeaker before – only little bits!  And then it’s the last phase…by this time, we’ve deemed him Destructo Dog.
