Do you have a pecker?

A woodpecker that is!  When Joe took the dog out this morning, he heard an odd sound and when he looked around he spotted 2 red headed woodpeckers!  He came in and grabbed the camera and took a few shots.  A blue jay happened to stop by too!!

Ice Storm of 2008

Y’all may have heard that we had a bit of an ice storm here in the northeast.  Yeah, that’s a bit of an understatement.  It’s probably the worst ice storm I can remember (not that my memory is that great or anything).  This afternoon the weather cleared enough for Joe to head out and take some photos.  These are my favorites! :)   Most of them use a process called HDR (High Dynamic Range) which I’d mentioned in a previous post.

This is actually our grass – weirdest thing, each individual blade of grass was encased in ice.

Fall Is Here!

Fall is FINALLY here!  Nights are getting colder (hitting in the upper 30s already) and days are usually in the 60s.  I love it!  Fall in New England is breathtaking and I can’t imagine living anywhere else.  We went out yesterday, on Joe’s last day of vacation, and took some photos of the early stages of the fall foliage.  Right now, the reds and oranges are the only colors really out in force.  Unfortunately, the reds and oranges fall quickly and then you’re just left with yellow.  And we’re in the middle of a big rain storm (supposed to get upwards of 4-5 inches of rain before Sunday) which will help those reds and oranges fall off the trees.

Joe took all of these and did what they call HDR or High Dynamic Range.  If you check out the following link, it’ll explain it a little bit more.  http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qud=20080815071029AAzgBmF

This is my favorite shot of the day.

And I can’t leave out the new pup! :)   Isn’t he the cutest?
