Sledding 101 – Warning Photo Overload!

Old Mother Nature dropped a few inches of snow on us last night so we decided to put it to good use this morning.  We were up early, as usual, and had the driveway and vehicles cleaned off by 10:30am or so.  After hitting the dump, we headed to the local elementary/middle school for some sledding.  Now, I know that some of my friends take their kids there but we’ve never gone there ourselves.   After a couple of texts and a phone call, I learned where we needed to go.  The thing was when we got there, the parking lot hadn’t been plowed and nothing had been shoveled and NO ONE had been there sledding yet.  The lack of plowing wasn’t a big deal - we took old Bertha and she plowed right through.  We weren’t sure exactly how to get up to the top but we figured it out in no time at all.  Once the paths for the sleds were broken once, they were prime for sledding and with no one else there we had the run of the place!

Joe rented a Canon 70-200 f/2.8L USM/IS from a place in Amherst and has it for a week.  We’ve had it a few days and while it’s an extremely awesome lens, he’d pretty much decided that it wasn’t one that he needed. At $1800, I was glad to hear that. :P   Seriously, he said he didn’t think we’d use it much.  But today, he had a chance to use it for what it was made for…action shots!  It takes some kick ass pics for sure!!  Hold onto your seats and your coffee…lots of pics to load up here!!

I love the sharpness of this lens!  Joe never moved from his spot at the bottom of the hill and many of these shots were taken when the kids were up at the top!

Pumpkin Pickin’ Time

With Joe on vacation for 11 whole days, we decided to take the kids to pick out pumpkins today!!  We’ve been going to Washburn’s Windy Hill Orchard since Nate was born and we love it.  Since it was cool and overcast, the place was deserted so we had the run of the place!  We only took a few pics though – we were too busy pickin’ out our pumpkins!  Nate has been asking us for a month if we were going to pick out pumpkins in October!  So he was especially pleased!

Summer Family Photos 2009 – New Castle, NH & Hampton, NH

Once again, it’s time for the Ledvina summer family photos!  Every year we try to take family photos during the summer and then at Christmas.  Occasionally, we’ll get in more than that but those are my 2 requirements.  Growing up we never had family photos taken.  I think my mom has exactly one family photo and I was probably 10 or so and my brother about 5.  No more family photos were taken until my wedding!!  So I’ve made it a priority to take them every year.

I really love summer photos on the beach – Joe feels like the same old family photos on the beach year after year is boring.  So we compromised.  Instead of going to York Beach in Maine, he scoured the internet (not really it only took a couple of minutes) and found New Castle, NH.  It’s a state owned park and has a small little beach.  You have to pay to get in there but it was worth the measely $7!  There’s a huge playground as well as the beach, which is COVERED in these cute little shells!!

After spending a few hours in New Castle, we headed to Hampton where we take yearly photos on the seawall there, something we’ve done since Nate was a year old.  I LOVE the seawall pics and being able to compare them year after year.  :)   This is one tradition I absolutely refuse to negotiate on with Joey.  :P

Anyway, here’s a few of our photos.  :)

This was one of our favorite family photos of the day.  Due to the harsh sun, it was nearly impossible to get the exposure perfect but I think Joe did a great job!

This is my favorite family shot of the day!  But it’s not a great closeup of all of us.  I still love it though!  May be using this one for Christmas cards!
