Back on the Wagon

Ugh – the not so great part about the holidays? I skipped exercising and eating right for 4 weeks and gained back 7.7 lbs. NOT cool but I expected to gain 8-10 lbs. I weighed in this morning for my official weight gain and boy was it depressing even though I knew it was coming. I’m trying to stay positive and know that I really enjoyed the holiday season and ate all the goodies that only come once a year. But damn is it difficult this morning…staying positive that is. So in trying to stay positive, I’ve put together a couple of before and after pics to try to boost my spirits.

I realized when looking back to find some good comparison photo that until this year, I did not have many photos of me at all. So this was the best I could do.

Exactly 1 year apart – taken Christmas day 2008 and 2009. Not a great comparison but the best I could do.

I was looking for a full length photo of me and I had to go back all the way to August to find one even close. So August of 2008 on the left and December 2009 on the right.

I only feel marginally better now.

The Year of Change

The Year of Change….is now. I haven’t yet posted here about this but many of you already know. In January of this year, Joe and I changed the way we ate and I started with an exercise routine. It’s been 10+ months and I’m happy to say we’re doing great!! At first, I kept it quiet just because I’ve dieted and failed so many times that I didn’t want to make a statement about it and then fail again. Thankfully, that hasn’t been the case this time!

When my in-laws came up this weekend, my mother-in-law brought along this photo from 1999. I couldn’t believe the difference!! Not only does Joe look like a baby in the photo, but I’m about 120 lbs heavier than I am now!! I decided to put together some comparison photos. Joe and I have been attending the Greenville Fire Dept Ball for the last 3 or 4 years and we’ve had our photo taken every year we go. I thought those would make some good comparisons. Take a look! Joe’s lost 50 lbs since last year and I’ve lost more than 60. Joe’s at his goal weight but I still have a bit more to lose. I hope by next year at this time I can show another comparison photo with ANOTHER 50 lbs down!!

I suck at keeping up with this blog. But I am back to post the rest of the photos from the sneak peak on my last entry. Joe got some new photography gear a while back and we finally had the chance in August to set it all up and play around with it. We were SUPER excited about the results! Check them out!!
