Yes, I said OUR new ride, Joseph. When Joe got the little blue rollersake, it was decided that I’d get the next new car…made sense since my 1998 Explorer is sure to crap out at any moment. So when Joe asked me if I wanted a Saab, I said sure. And joked with him that he could buy himself one too! Little did I know that he was serious. A guy he works with just bought a brand new Acura sports car and was looking to get rid of his Saab. Joe and I talked it over and we just couldn’t pass it up. My Explorer, while still running ok at the moment, could really die at any time. And then we’d be scrambling around trying to find a decent vehicle that fits in our budget. We got the Saab for a steal…and the guy we got it from was meticulous when it comes to his cars. He has no children so the car has never seen a kid (until tonight). Or a dog. The car is great shape and boy is it nice!
So as you can imagine, Joe has already deemed this new car “his” even though it’s SUPPOSED to be mine. He thinks because it’s a stick that I won’t drive it…proved him wrong already. I drove it home from Concord tonight.
It’s been 10 years since I’ve driven a stick and it all came back to me in the instant I let off the clutch.
Man, I’d forgotten how fun it is to drive a manual…and let’s not even talk about a manual that has some get up and go. So we’ve decided to share “our” car.
Joe took a couple of quick pics tonight before it got dark. The inside doesn’t have a scratch on it anywhere but it definitely needs to be vacuumed. Our neighbor does auto detailing and Joe talked to him tonight about how much he would charge. So I think in a couple of weeks, we’re going to have it detailed.
Anyway…here are the pics of our new car…Stella (until we can decide on a better name).
