An Update on Moi

It’s been several months since I’ve updated on me and my weight loss.  The short answer is there’s been no more loss other than the lbs that I’d put on during the holidays.  I’m back down to where I was before Christmas but I’ve been at a stand still for what seems like forever.  I’m still eating about the same amount but my exercise has increased quite a bit since having my own home gym.  I’m doing anywhere between an hour and a half and two hours a day.  I do cardio either on the bike, elliptical or treadmill and I try to get in at least 45 mins to 90 mins per day on that.  I also like to try to get in 30 minutes of the Bowflex per day, including a couple of hundred crunches with about 90 lbs of resistance.

It’s frustrating to work so hard and not see any significant loss of pounds or inches.  But I press on because even if I don’t see the loss in numbers, I know that I’m doing all that I can to be healthy.  This is without a doubt the healthiest and most in shape I’ve ever been in my life.  I’m proud of that and love to see that it’s rubbing off on the girls because I see them making healthier choices in their every day eating.

So I thought I’d post some pics.  In the last couple of weeks, I’ve had a number of compliments from several people on how it looks like I’ve lost more weight.  I wish that were the case but I do love the nice things they’ve said.  Makes me feel like the hard work put in is worth it.

Anyway – here’s a before pic on the left (taken in 1998) and a photo taken about a year ago (Easter of 2009).  There’s about 65 lbs difference between those two pics.

And here are some photos from this weekend – almost a year from the Easter photo of last year.  It’s around 40/50 lbs difference between that pic and the following set of pics.   Oh and just an FYI for anyone wondering about my lack of hair.  I have psoriasis and when I was in high school/early 20s, my scalp suffered the worst and it basically scarred making it nearly impossible for the hair to regrow.  It used to bother me a lot (and certain days it still does) but for the most part, I figure I could have much worse problems than no hair. :P   I kind of wish it would just fall out all together so I didn’t have to take the time to blow dry it and do it each day! LOL

I hate the rolls of fat around my mid-section…but what can you do?  I’m doing a couple of hundred crunches a day plus some trunk rotations with the Bowflex in hopes of shrinking that down some.

Wow…congrats to you!! You look awesome and should be so, so proud of yourself! I know the struggle and am trying so hard to find the motivation to get going. The fact that you work out almost 2 hours a day with three small kids is amazing!

Keep up the hard work…it will pay off!

Congrats! It’s frustrating to plateau when you have been doing so much work. Have you tried changing up your routine? I was told that the body eventually gets used to doing something so you don’t burn as much if you don’t change things up. Maybe you are building muscle? At any rate, you are doing healthy things, and that’s the best!
    Keep up the good work!

You look fantastic! I realize you don’t know me at all, but you should know that you have motivated me tremendously! I have lost 19.2 pounds so far. I have improved the quality of food I am eating and I am now walking every day during my lunch hour. I bought a treadmill and will be walking in the evenings on that. Thank you for inspiring me to improve my health. I’m older than you are, and I’m heading into the years where my friends are all getting surgeries and taking tons of medication. Watching what is happening to some of them is frightening. Between seeing them, and watching your work here on your blog, it kicked me into action. I’m going to be healthy and fit and do the best I can for myself. And it started here on your blog!

You look great! Do you measure yourself? I bet with all that exercise you are losing inches, even if you don’t see any difference on the scale.

You look amazing and I LOVE your attitude. You might not have lost weight, but I think you have to have lost inches. Your new pictures are amazing. You should be so proud of yourself. I know how hard it is to make positive changes. I am still trying to find that thing to motivate me. I feel like I am getting there, but I also just drank a coke and had a handful of doritos.. not good! :) You are working out like crazy, which is awesome! Thanks for sharing and great job!!!!

Geri – up until last year, there were very few photos of me. But due to having the progressive weight loss photos taken, there are quite a few!!
