10th Annual Christmas Cookie Baking Day!

Well, I’m not sure if it’s exactly 10 years but it’s close.  Shortly after Joe started working at SC 10 years ago, I started sending the Christmas cookies around the holidays and at the end of every quarter.  Since manufacturing at his company has been moved to a different location, I no longer send in goodies at the end of each quarter but I still send in quite a bit of stuff around the holidays.  This year Joe had people asking when I was sending stuff in so they could schedule their vacation days around it.  LOL!

So yesterday, I started baking around 8:30am and finished packaging stuff up around 10:30pm last night.  I’m exhausted and every joint in my body hurts but I had a lot of fun!   Here are a few pics from my day of baking!

Only 2 cookie fails yesterday – this one where the cookie fell off my spatula onto the counter.  The other one I didn’t get pics since I was too concerned about getting a candy cane kiss out of my rug!! LOL

Mid-day – chocolate & mint chip cookies, peppermint kissed chocolate crinkles, Andes peppermint crunch gooey squares and 5 lbs of fudge cooling!

My iced sugar cookies – I’m most proud of these.  Typically I suck at icing sugar cookies but these came out ok this time!

Today, we had some great friends over for dinner.  As always, it was so nice to see Matt, Sarah and baby Mason.  He’ll be 6 months old next week.  Look at this face – how could you NOT just melt when you see it?

But before Sarah, Matt & Mason arrived, Joe and I took some pics with the kids.  We got some good ones this time around!

And then we had a visit from Santa!!  We had not only Matt, Sarah & Mason visiting but our neighbors, Angie, Toby and their 2 girls came to visit as well!!  Everyone had a great time!!

Santa asking Maddie if she’s been good…look at that straight face when she lied to him and told him yes! LOL Just kidding!

2nd Annual Cookie Decorating with the Goen’s

For the first time last year instead of exchanging gifts with some friends of ours, we decided to decorate cookies instead.  We all loved it so much that we’ve decided to do it every year.  The kids had a blast decorating the cookies and doing crafts.  And in the true spirit of Christmas – by the time Tena & Everett left, it was snowing!

The cookies right after they were baked!  I make them extra thick (between 1/4-1/2″ thick) so they hold up to the decorating!
